About
The purpose of this website is to help you in any way I can by sharing what I learn while consciously pursuing personal growth.
About Me
I was born and raised in Houston, TX, went to college (UTSA), majored in accounting and was bored out of my mind. I was very frustrated knowing I was on a path to working for someone else and I didn’t want to end up like the other mindless drones I knew that complained about their jobs yet kept going for years and years, so I stopped attending class and decided to bypass the job route.
I was wondering if there was something I could do without a job but still make enough income to support myself so I googled “how to make money without a job”, found Steve Pavlina, started the basketball blog You Got Dunked On (sold it, but still up running well), and really got interested in blogging. I learned so much from building that blog up and it was such a fun experience, yet more challenging than anything I ever did in college. I found that I was way more interested in reading about personal development than anything and I didn’t want to grow all alone so I thought why not create a blog focusing on what I was really interested in. And here we are!
Personal Growth from the Bottom Up
I decided to title this blog Personal Growth from the Bottom Up because in my many ways I felt like I started at the bottom. During the time I mentioned above when I wasn’t going to class I was feeling a lot of shame and guilt for wasting money on classes I wasn’t going to and sinking deeper and deeper in debt. I felt it was pretty pointless. I was overweight and had tried so many diets that I fell off of. My house was a complete mess and it was a struggle just to pay the rent in the apartment (which eventually I got kicked out of). I was feeling really depressed and disconnected from everything. As I continued to wallow in self-pity the problems continued to get worse.
Then I re-watched The Secret after putting it away for 2 years and listened to Rhonda Byrnes’ commentary and that’s the point where things started changing. Ever since then I’ve been on fire for growth.
